About BMSense
Hi, I’m John, the owner and technician behind BMSense.
I’m a fully qualified automotive technician with over 20 years of experience in the industry. I began my career in the UK, working at various independent workshops before spending a combined 5 years with German vehicle specialists.
It was during this time that I started working more regularly on BMWs and fell in love with the brand. I wanted to specialise in BMW and MINI, which eventually led me to work within BMW and MINI dealerships.
I have now spent more than 12 years working with BMW and MINI in dealerships across the UK and Australia. During my time in the UK, I also achieved BMW and MINI Diagnostic Technician status.
I use that experience to review BMW and MINI enquiries and carry out selected initial mobile diagnostic checks. Complex or open ended fault diagnosis is not offered in a mobile setting.
For me, doing the job properly means taking the time to understand the concern, explain what I have found and make sure the customer understands why any work is being recommended.
When you contact BMSense, I personally review your enquiry and explain the options. You do not need to know whether the concern is suitable for a mobile repair before getting in touch. If it is, I am the technician who attends and carries out the work. There is no generic booking centre or handover between different people.
I would love to help with every enquiry, but my priority is to give you the right advice and only take on work that I am confident can be completed from start to finish. If a workshop or dealership is the better option, I will tell you honestly.
Why I Started BMSense
After years in workshops and dealerships, I saw how much customers valued being able to speak directly with the person working on their vehicle. People often wanted more time to explain what the car was doing, ask questions and understand why a repair was being recommended.
That is why I started BMSense. I wanted to give BMW and MINI owners a more personal service, with clear advice and the convenience of mobile repairs at their home or workplace across Sydney.
I try to treat every customer in the same way I would want a friend or family member to be treated. That means giving the best advice I can from the information available, even when that advice does not result in work for BMSense.
When reviewing an enquiry or inspecting a vehicle, I will explain what appears urgent, what may be monitored and when further investigation is needed. If I carry out the work, I also take the time to explain what was found and, where possible, show the customer why a repair or replacement part was recommended. I want customers to understand the advice they are receiving without feeling pressured.
Operating as a mobile service also keeps overheads lower than a traditional workshop, helping me offer a more competitive labour rate. Where genuine BMW or MINI parts are supplied through the dealership network, I pass any available parts savings on to the customer.
Mobile repairs are normally booked for weekends, while BMW and MINI enquiries are open 7 days. Booking the work in advance gives me time to review the vehicle details, confirm the correct parts and prepare as much as possible from the information provided. This gives me the best chance of completing the work in one visit rather than needing multiple visits.
